Compare Cruise Prices 2027: Start With What Each Line Includes

When you compare cruise prices 2027 sailings, the most common mistake is comparing a line that includes a lot with one that includes very little. Inclusions vary widely, so start there.

Line styleWhat is often in the fareWhat to add when comparing
Mainstream big-ship linesCabin, main dining, buffet, shows, pools, basic drinksGratuities, drinks, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, excursions
Virgin Voyages (adults only)Gratuities and basic Wi-Fi, per the line’s own fact sheetDrinks, excursions
Viking (ocean)Wi-Fi, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, one included shore excursion per portOptional excursions, premium drinks
Regent Seven SeasUnlimited shore excursions, beverages, pre-paid gratuities, Wi-FiUsually only premium extras

Lines change their inclusions from time to time, so confirm the current list for your sailing. For the character of each line, Cruise Compares goes further.

Comparing 2027 Sailings Fairly

  • Compare similar weeks: a holiday sailing and an ordinary week are priced differently on the same ship.
  • Compare similar ships: a new 2027 ship will often command more than an older sister on the same route.
  • Compare similar lengths: divide the total by the number of nights for a fair per-night figure.
  • Compare the same departure city, or add the flights to make up the difference.
  • Keep an eye on promotions during Black Friday and Wave Season, then re-run the worksheet.

Shore excursions are often the most variable line; Shore Activities lists options port by port. For insurance, Cruise & Travel Insurance explains what to buy and when.

Per Night, Per Person, Per Cabin

Cruise prices are quoted in different ways, and mixing them up is the fastest route to a wrong answer. A fare “per person” usually assumes two guests sharing; the cabin costs twice that, plus taxes and fees for both. A per-night figure helps compare a seven-night cruise with a ten-night one, but only if the totals behind it include the same things. Pick one unit — we suggest the total for your whole cabin — and convert every option to it before you compare. Solo travellers should ask for the single-occupancy total directly, since a solo supplement changes the picture completely; Sailing Single explains how solo pricing works.
